Beach outing in Scheveningen
An afternoon with sand under your shoes feels different from an outing in a hall. The group relaxes, people talk to other colleagues or teammates for a change, and there is plenty of room to do something together. But a beach outing can be sporty, creative or relaxing. The key is to choose an activity that suits the group.
At Beleving aan Zee, you can book a standalone beach outing or a more extensive programme with several activities. Compete enthusiastically in the Beach Games, learn power kiting, play beach volleyball or build a sand sculpture with your team. We help you choose based on your group's composition, the desired atmosphere and how much action you want.
Which beach outing suits your group?
One person wants to know which team is leading after just five minutes. Another mainly wants an enjoyable afternoon by the sea. Consider what participants enjoy and can manage, as well as what sounds spectacular. Below you will find four different ways to enjoy the beach.
Active: power kiting and beach volleyball
Want to get moving and let the wind lend a hand? During power kiting on the beach you first learn how to control the kite. Then you can try different kites. There are smaller kites for practising at a gentle pace and more powerful ones for participants who want a greater challenge.
Beach volleyball with the group can start off relaxed and still end in a fiercely competitive tournament. After an explanation of the main techniques and rules, the teams take to the court. The format is adapted to the group’s skill level and size.

Creative: building sand sculptures together
For a creative beach outing, all you really need is sand, seawater and a good idea. During the sand sculpture workshop each team works on its own design. This could be an open theme, or a company logo, product or subject familiar to the group.
It is about more than the final result. Discussing ideas, sharing tasks and building something together make this accessible for less sporty participants. At the end, the structures can be judged on creativity, size and finish.
Competitive: Beach Games
The Beach Games in Scheveningen are based on a six-event competition. Teams play a combination of short challenges in which strength can be useful, but teamwork, balance, agility and logical thinking are just as important. Examples include team skiing, tactical tug of war, the Walking A, a catapult challenge or a blind team game.
The activities are chosen based on the group and can be adapted to beach conditions if necessary. This makes Beach Games suitable for groups wanting competition without making the entire afternoon about fitness.
Relaxed: outdoors without going full speed all the time
A fun beach outing does not have to be a sports day. During Disc Golf you walk a course with your team and try to get the frisbee into the basket in as few throws as possible. Technique and feel matter more than speed. Sand sculpture building can also be played at a relaxed pace when togetherness matters more than competition.
For mixed groups, a combination is often pleasant: an active element for those who enjoy movement, followed by a calmer activity or drinks together.
Beach activities for small and large groups
A group outing on the beach can be organised for a small team or an organisation with many participants. For larger groups, we work with several teams, playing areas or activity components. This keeps the programme manageable and avoids long waits.
Let us know beforehand how your group is composed and whether anyone has an injury or limited mobility. We can then recommend a suitable activity or adapt certain elements. Less sporty participants do not automatically have to stay on the sidelines.
From a single activity to a complete afternoon by the sea
Many beach activities last around an hour and a half. That is long enough for a complete programme while leaving time to eat or drink together. You can also combine several activities into an afternoon or full-day programme.
Beleving aan Zee works with various beach bars and beach clubs. The programme can therefore start with coffee or lunch and end with drinks, a barbecue or dinner. The best combination depends on the venue, group size, season and your budget.

Frequently asked questions about a beach outing
Which beach outing suits a mixed group?
Sand sculptures, disc golf and adapted Beach Games are good choices when participants vary in age or sporting ability. Speed and strength are not the only things that matter in these activities. We can also tailor the content to the group's composition.
Can a beach outing go ahead in less favourable weather?
A cool or cloudy day needn't be a problem. If there is a brief shower, the start can sometimes be postponed. If the weather is too poor for the planned programme, we discuss an adjustment or a suitable alternative. Anyone who wants to avoid depending on the weather entirely can also explore our indoor outings.
What should you wear for group beach activities?
Choose clothes that let you move freely and shoes that can handle some sand. It can be cooler and windier by the sea than inland, so an extra layer is often welcome. On sunny days, sunscreen and sunglasses are sensible.
How long does a beach activity last?
Many individual activities last around an hour and a half. If you want to combine two activities or finish with lunch, drinks or a barbecue, we create a half-day or full-day programme.
On which beaches are the outings organised?
Scheveningen is our home base. Depending on the activity and group size, options are also available in Kijkduin, Hoek van Holland, Katwijk, Noordwijk, Wassenaar and Zandvoort, among others. We check in advance which location best suits your programme.
Can we combine a beach activity with food and drinks?
Yes. Through our partner beach pavilions, the outing can be combined with coffee, lunch, drinks, a barbecue or dinner. We recommend a venue suited to the activity, atmosphere and group size.
Have a beach outing put together for you?
Tell us how many people are coming, when the outing takes place and whether the group mainly wants sport, games, creativity or relaxation. This helps us advise you on an activity and a suitable beach location.
